Hi, I'm Colleen Bramlage,
a certified Abigail Steidley Mind-Body Coach.
Thank you for checking out my website! I am here to share with you information about my mind-body wellness coaching program, how being coached healed me from years of chronic pain, and how being coached can help you. Mind-body wellness coaching is a natural approach to learning how to cope with stressful situations.
Out of college, I worked many years as a Recreational Therapist at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I then received a Masters in Special Education, and taught throughout the Northshore Chicagoland area. Through these experiences, I developed skills in working with children and adolescents in both the clinical and academic settings. My whole life I felt that I had been given a gift in helping children and adolescents in supporting their needs. However, it wasn’t until I went through my own life trials that I decided I want to do more, connect more, and really help make a difference on a deeper level.
My path to coaching wellness began after being in chronic pain for almost eight years. I had tried all sorts of healing methods using Western medicine and holistic approaches, but nothing seemed to work. It wasn’t until I began studying Abigail Steidley’s mind-body program that I started to understand how stress can cause illness. I hired a mind-body coach and learned how to calm my nervous system down. When I began using these tools and strategies throughout my life, a shift began to take place. Not only did my chronic pain lessen, but I learned how to set boundaries, I became less of a perfectionist and less of a people pleaser, and learned to accept myself. It has been a major self-esteem boost. I’ve now learned how to be present, how to breathe correctly, how to attract what I want in life, and most importantly, how to worry less.
I coach children, adolescents and adults by teaching them the tools they need in order to improve their body’s response to stress. The pain and struggle from dealing with these challenges is very real. Even with all our years of schooling, we have not been taught one of the most important life skills: how to deal with stress. We tend to suppress our emotions and let them manifest within, leading to a variety of noticeable symptoms like headaches, autoimmune disease, obesity, drug-and-alcohol abuse, and anxiety. The amygdala is the part of the brain that deals with stress; it signals to our body how to respond to stress, using the fight, flight, or freeze response. When activating this part of our brain and reacting to stressors, our breath changes and hormone levels change, activating cortisol, which in turn affects our cholesterol, blood pressure, and adrenals. However, we can take control of our reaction to stress. We can learn how to turn off the stress response, and re-pattern our minds to accept stress differently. In doing this, you’ll learn how to tap into your inner wisdom and think clearly.
It is my turn to give back to you! With my continued love for teaching, it would be a pleasure to help coach you on how to improve your life and learn how to become the best version of yourself. Together, we can naturally calm your nervous system and I can re-pattern your thoughts so you can better cope with all life events.
